Concentra proudly embraces a
co-operative identity, values and principles. Focusing on
concern for community, Concentra works for sustainable development in the communities we serve.
To bring our efforts to life, Concentra uses three pillars of community impact investing.
Credit Union Community
Credit unions are key pillars in their communities, investing tens of millions of dollars each year to support community organizations, charitable foundations, scholarships and more. Concentra reinforces these credit union investments through
Empowering Your Community – the cornerstone of our Corporate Social Responsibility program.
Since 2011, Concentra has contributed over $1 million to more than 80 projects in 70+ communities across Canada. Each year, Canadian credit unions identify local projects, and apply to Concentra for an
Empowering grant in support of their project. Concentra employees carefully consider every application, awarding multiple grants to support these
Concentra is strengthening the co-operative movement at home and abroad through targeted, long-term investments.
Concentra has contributed to the
Co-operative Development Foundation of Canada since 2003, recently completing a four-year, $250,000 investment. In 2018, we again partnered with CDF investing $300,000 over four years in support of the Breaking New Ground campaign.
Here at home, the
Centre for the Study of Co-operatives at the University of Saskatchewan provides people with conceptual and informational tools to understand co-operatives, and to develop them as solutions to economic and social need. Concentra is proud to continue our support as a major funding partner.
Concentra strengthens the communities where our employees live and work, particularly in Regina and Saskatoon. The Saskatchewan Science Centre, READ Saskatoon, the YWCA of Saskatoon's Women of Distinction Awards, the Saskatoon Community Foundation and the United Way in both cities are a few of the numerous organizations to whom we devote time and attention. In fact, Concentra, together with our employees have combined to raise in excess of $1.1 million for the United Way of Regina and United Way of Saskatoon.
To further demonstrate our commitment to supporting our own communities, Concentra encourages employee volunteerism by providing three paid days off per year to any staff member who wants to volunteer with co-operative and other community organizations. It's how we live our co-operative values – everyday!
