Concentra awards $200,000 to Canadian Credit Unions through emPOWERING Your Communities Campaign


Concentra is excited to announce the 2016 emPOWERING Your Communities recipients.  After receiving 77 applications from credit unions across Canada, our employee selection committee has chosen 15 credit unions to receive a $10,000 award. In addition, for the first time ever, Concentra will also provide two awards valued at $25,000.

"By increasing our corporate support to $200,000 in 2016, Concentra is demonstrating our unwavering commitment to credit unions and the co-operative values we share" remarked Ken Kosolofski, Concentra President and CEO. He continued "We want to partner with and support credit unions as you serve your local communities.  Concentra has deep roots in the co-operative system, so it makes perfect sense to support our co-operative colleagues through emPOWERING." 

The 2016 recipients include:

  • Access Credit Union: Blue Sky Opportunities Recycling Plant
  • Advance Savings Credit Union: Kent North Centre Arena Rebuild Committee
  • Assiniboine Credit Union: Refugee Transportation Loan Financial Literacy Program
  • Biggar & District Credit Union: One Rafter at a Time Perdue Arena Re-build
  • Credit Union Atlantic: Community Investment Grant Program
  • Envision Financial Division, First West Credit Union: The Full Cupboard
  • Foam Lake Credit Union: Foam Lake Lab Equipment Upgrade
  • Innovation Credit Union: Wilkie Community Center Rebuild Project
  • Interior Savings Credit Union: Interior Savings Across the Lake Swim
  • Meridian: emPOWERING Entrepreneurs, Building Communities
  • Osoyoos Credit Union: Osoyoos Child Care Centre Infant/Toddler Playground
  • PenFinancial Credit Union: Skates for Kids
  • Prairie Centre Credit Union: Elbow Trail Project
  • Servus Credit Union: Andrew Arena
  • Sunrise Credit Union: Tiger Hills Medical Clinic Expansion

  • Island Savings, a division of First West Credit Union: Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Victoria, Cowichan Valley, Central Vancouver Island
  • Tandia Financial Credit Union Limited: Food4Kids

Please visit concentra.ca to learn more about each project.  Projects include a wide variety of credit union-supported initiatives and programming to enhance Canadian communities such as: arts, culture and community programming; financial literacy and skills training; health and wellness initiatives; housing and emergency shelter facilities; and community and recreational centers.

Now in its sixth year, Concentra's emPOWERING program has delivered over $1 million in support of 96 credit union projects in 84 Canadian communities.
