Concentra Bank ("Concentra") launched its annual
Empowering Your Community campaign today, marking its ninth year partnering with credit unions to build healthy, strong communities across Canada.
Concentra is awarding $200,000 to credit unions in support of community initiatives related to health, education, community development, and the environment. Credit unions have a chance to win one of 17 Empowering awards: two awards each valued at $25,000 and 15 awards each valued at $10,000.
"The Empowering campaign continues to align with our vision as a purpose-based organization," remarks Don Coulter, President and CEO. "We're proud to partner with credit unions to help them strengthen the communities and members they serve across Canada."
In 2018, credit unions set the bar high with 76 applications and an outstanding slate of projects for consideration. Winners from 2018 included
Dawn House Community Kitchen, supported by Kingston Credit Union,
Music and Memory, championed by Interior Savings Credit Union, and
Kandu Summer Camp, backed by Vision Credit Union.
Coulter encourages credit unions to submit an application for an Empowering award. "We want to hear from them about the exceptional projects that are making a difference in their communities."
Empowering Your Community is Concentra's flagship CSR initiative. Since 2011, Concentra has awarded $1.4 million to credit unions funding projects in over 100 communities across Canada.
